Secrets to sell online your handmade products

Do you love crafting? Is it your hobby right, enjoy it so much and want to get profit from it?

Read this article until the end, I’m going to share with you all the secrets that helped me to achieve this goal over the past 3 years when I started this business.

I started this business in August 2019 when I discovered the Cricut machine, I wanted to start making all the paper decorations I already was doing for my kid’s birthday (just with scissors) in a fancy and more professional way.

So, I bought the machine, start learning how to use it, and then, I make some cute things for my friends and family, which brought me real clients, and then, I officially opened Do It Paper, which is my business and I love it, or how I like to call it “My third baby”.

Here’s Secret Number 1: Make cute things for your friends and family, even if that’s free. Don’t worry if you don’t get money from it at the beginning, you’re getting two important things: experience and visibility. If your friends show your work to their friends, your work will be more exposed, and also, if you have an Instagram account or Etsy shop, you’ll have more things to show in your portfolio. Also, you’ll gain a little experience doing the things you want to make, dealing with clients, and so on. Don’t do this for so long, you want to have time for your real clients.

Secret Number 2: Practice, a lot. Build your portfolio. Of course, we are not going to give it all for free, or if you have so many friends and family to give things to, awesome! But then, you’ll have to create new things, even if you don’t have clients, you’ll need to show your talent, how you combine colors, styles, and who you are. Make your work talk about you. So, it’s so necessary that you show your work, and then, attract potential clients.

Secret Number 3: Find a place where to be exposed. If you’re selling locally, you just need to find people to sell, promote your business with friends, use traditional media, look for local event planners, etc. But if you want to sell online, you’ll need to find a marketplace or a place where you can show your work. This can be social media channels, such as Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, etc, or marketplaces such as Etsy, Facebook Marketplace, etc.

Secret Number 4: Make your brand stand out. You’ll have to build your brand and your reputation online. Nobody knows you yet, they need to trust you first. And that takes time. You’ll have to create a brand with your logo, and elements, to make you look professional and trustworthy.

Secret Number 5: Create content to attract potential clients. The content will be the best to attract potential clients. You can have just an Etsy shop, but if you want to build a reputation, you’ll have to be present on social media. And then, create original content to show you different than others.

The final secret is to be patient and give time to your persistence. Everything takes time, and if you do the right things, you’ll succeed.
